The Sunshine Coast’s premier resort just got a whole lot greener, discovers Melanie Rosettenstein.

Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort is an absolute gem in our community – welcoming guests from across Australia and beyond, hosting premier events and conferences, and offering locals a slice of resort-style relaxation right on our doorstep. Through their innovative WasteMaster waste management system, water conservation initiatives and commitment to eliminating single use plastics, the Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort has always been at the forefront of sustainability. And, now they’ve taken it up a notch by partnering with non-profit tree-planting platform Reforest and Visit Sunshine Coast’s sustainability program.

Portfolio Director of Brand, Marketing, Digital and Communications, Suzy Raymer said they wanted to empower guests to understand the environmental impacts and to play an active role in protecting the coastline by giving them the option to buy a tree, which is then planted in the Cooroy Mountain Wildlife Corridor. The chance to buy trees is open to conference delegates and hotel guests, and since the launch of the program in September 2024, more than 34 native trees have already been planted.

“It doesn’t get more local than this and we are so pleased to reassure our guests – whether day visitors, staying overnight, or enjoying a holiday – that their stay directly contributes to the sustainability of our Sunshine Coast environment,” Suzy said.

Looking to 2025, the Novotel will be hosting some firm favourites such as their signature Bush to Coast High Tea, which is available in the stylish Sola bar every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm.

“The high teas have become especially popular amongst our locals for special celebrations such as bridal and baby showers, Mother’s Day and birthdays,” she said.

February will mark the Month of Love with Valentine’s Day events for the entire month, providing the perfect place to make love-filled memories. Also available to Sunny Coasters are the Novotel’s midweek day passes, which allow locals to explore and enjoy the resort and its facilities.

“This means that if you’re a local, you can come and enjoy a meal on site, take a swim in the pool, go for a sail on one of our catamarans, or get involved with some of the many options available at our activity centre,” explained Suzy.

On the business front, the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre, which forms part of the resort, now has a fresh look and feel. Committed to delivering unforgettable experiences, whether corporate or social, the centre has a plethora of adaptable spaces designed for everything from intimate board meetings to gala balls.

“The centre has become especially popular for social events where we’ve been hosting celebrations such as engagement parties, weddings and milestone birthdays,” Suzy said.

“We can offer the whole package, including accommodation and associated activities.”

There’s so much to enjoy at the Novotel for both holidaymakers and locals!
