A World of Reawakening at Conscious Life Festival
Holistic health and wellness communities are taking root on the Sunshine Coast. Georgia Beard discovers how we can experience physical and spiritual transformation at Laura Di Mambro’s Conscious Life Festival 2023!
Science-based medicine, superficial daily routines and a reluctance to look beyond the physical – in Western society, these conventional clinical solutions used to be the only valid approaches to health and wellness.
But pressure is mounting. In response to an unstable world, we’re seeking self-awareness, listening to our bodies and taking back control of our wellbeing. We’re finding balance in ourselves.
As a result, holistic lifestyles have finally surfaced from the undercurrent to flow alongside traditional health modalities.
Sustainable businesses, vegan cafés and restaurants, gut health specialists, yoga studios and more continue to settle on the Sunshine Coast, cementing the industry in our daily lives.
Active in this growing health-conscious community, holistic visionary and event organiser Laura Di Mambro has witnessed a recent shift in public perceptions of holism.
“We always go through these cycles of evolving,” she said. “I believe a lot of people are now taking their health and wellbeing more seriously.
“For the three years we went through COVID-19, people were stuck, isolated, and it made them question a lot about their lifestyles. That had a massive positive impact on people making changes in their lives.”
Since 2011, Laura has offered her community the spaces and opportunities to manifest these changes. What started as a small showcase in Peregian Beach Community House with less than three month’s planning became one of Queensland’s most anticipated activations of alternative businesses, experiences and life coaching.
Returning to Venue 114 for its twelfth year, Conscious Life Festival empowers holistic health and wellbeing, personal awareness and development, spirituality and environmentally sustainable living.
On Saturday 4 March and Sunday 5 March, we’re invited to reconnect with a like-minded community over workshops, seminars, exhibitors and experiences in meditation, massage, intuitive readings, alternative therapies, live music and sustainable food.
The response to this year’s event was instantaneous. When she put the word out to her network, she received applications from enough businesses to completely fill her stand capacity within two weeks – and she hadn’t even begun her marketing campaign.
Alongside over 90 exhibitors, Laura has assembled a tribe of over 60 changemakers, thought leaders, practitioners and healers to get your mind, body and soul back in balance through seminars and workshops.
A handful of new and returning speakers include international speaker, author and survivor of the 2002 Bali Bombing Carren Smith; Australia’s leading psychic medium and animal whisperer Amanda De Warren; gut health and wellness advocate Annie Clark; and award-winning ghost-writer Roxanne McCarty-O’Kane.
The festival is divided into six areas of health and wellness experiences across Venue 114’s indoor and outdoor spaces. The main stage, workshop rooms and outdoor tent space will house seminars with local and national industry leaders.
A fourth area will be dedicated to meditation, sound healing and breathwork while the kids zone offers yoga sessions, crystal and rakhi workshops, talks on self-confidence and positive affirmation and song and dance parties.
The courtyard will become a relaxing space to soak in back-to-back music from Marco Debie, Damien Campbell, Solace of Sound, Maetreyii, Adam Buchanan and Phil Barlow. Food and drink providers such as Alegria Vegana, Ibu Bali Vegan, Hakoora Foods, Coco’s Plant Powered and Chill Juice Bar will also be on hand to give visitors an earth-friendly energy boost!
“We promote clean food because most of our attendees are mindful of what they put in their bodies and a lot of people are vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free,” Laura said.
As they meander through the market stalls, experience natural therapies and hear from perspective-altering speakers, visitors will find a new sense of belonging and new perceptions of living.
“People are waking up to understand there’s a lot more to life than the nine-to-five grind of stress and jobs,” Laura said.
“Even a conversation they’ve had with one of the stallholders or speakers, or one product they’ve bought to make a massive difference in their life – if there’s something that has inspired them to move forward in life, that would be amazing.”
“It’s really close to my heart. I’ve always been passionate about what I do, but even more so now to help people.”
Now Laura is looking ahead to the future. A one-day boutique program of holistic speakers and workshops is on the cards, while Conscious Life Festival continues to expand to wider wellness communities in the Gold Coast and Byron Bay. We can’t wait to see what’s in store!
