All About Sole Restaurant
Celebrating one year of seafood excellence, Sole Restaurant will be hosting a Seafood Seduction that is sure to be a sell-out success, as Deb Caruso discovers.
Nestled in the quaint streets of Town of Seaside, overlooking a leafy park and just a short stroll to Mudjimba Beach, Sole has earnt a reputation for friendly service and stunning yet simple food.
The creation of David and Sarah Nash, whose Velo Project Café in Mooloolaba has been a star on the café scene for more than a decade; Sole delivers sensational seafood-centric fare with friendly service.
To celebrate its first year, Sole is teaming up with Jamie Odlum from House of Fine Wine to present a Seafood Seduction long lunch packed with sublime food matched with the best of Australian wines.
With the focus on freshness, the final menu is yet to be announced however you can be confident that it will reflect the sensational flavours that Head Chef Tom Staal is known for.
Growing up on a cattle station in central Queensland and eating the best-of-the-best premium beef, fruit and vegetables, Tom was destined for a culinary career. An apprenticeship at Harry’s on Buderim was an excellent start with his skills further honed at Spice Bar, Spirit House and The Long Apron before overseas experiences beckoned.
Returning home, we’re grateful that he is now firmly ensconced at Sole where David and Sarah give him full licence to do what he does best – dishing up vibrant food featuring local produce, boasting confident flavour combinations that are not overworked.
Co-owner Sarah Nash said the response from the community since opening 12 months ago had been great.
“We wanted to create a place where seafood could be celebrated in a relaxed and friendly environment,” she said.
“We are thrilled with how the local community have embraced us and love the support from our regulars as well as the great feedback we receive from new guests discovering what we offer.”
Sarah said that while there were several dishes that have proven to be popular, they would be creating a special menu for the Seafood Seduction.
“Seafood is at the heart of everything we do so we’re looking forward to celebrating that with a special event that allows Tom to show his understanding and appreciation of seafood and how to bring the flavours to life,” she said.
“Pairing the dishes with hand-selected wines will bring an extra element to the experience to create a match made in heaven.”
While the final menu will be confirmed closer to the date and based on the availability of ingredients, we can share that the taste adventure will start with a welcome drink of Australian sparkling paired with a live oyster shucking station.
As guests mingle, they can learn more about sustainable oyster farming, the art of shucking and discover one of Australia’s leading sparkling wines before being seated for what promises to be an intimate and engaging afternoon of delightful discoveries.
The team from Hello Sunshine Magazine will be there to capture all the fun and guide you through an afternoon of discovering wonderful wines matched with delicious dishes and making new friends.
With only 50 seats available, we’re sure this event will sell out quickly.
Don’t delay or you’ll be left saying more than ‘schucks’.
