An evening at Flo’s Crêperie is about to get a little more Francey with the introduction of their brand-new French dinner menu – featuring plenty of beloved classics with that signature Flo’s twist, bien sûr! Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer discovers what’s on the menu and starts planning her next visit…

If you already love Flo’s Crêperie and their delicious selection of crêpes and galettes (and if not, where have you been?), then prepare to be delighted – their new French dinner menu has arrived, and it’s as fantastique as you’d expect!

Start your French feast with ‘Petits’ including Moules Gratinées topped with confit garlic butter and breadcrumbs; Chicken Liver Pâté with pickles and croutons; and the amazing-sounding Raclette Bombs (I’ve been obsessed with raclette since a childhood French skiing trip, so sign me up!). Entrees such as Steak Tartare; Scallop Vol Au Vent; Flo’s Cured Ocean Trout with sauce vierge, black olives, dill, creme fraiche; and many more tasty offerings are hard to resist but leave room for heartier mains, including crowd-pleasers such as Steak Frites; Chicken Fricassée; and La Papillote, which is barramundi, mussels and local king prawns cooked in a paper bag with saffron potatoes and bouillabaisse – hard to pronounce, but easy to devour!

Sensational sides include Courgettes Grillées with confit lemon, pepitas and fresh herbs; Salade Verte; and Potatoes a la Flo layered with cream and chives. It wouldn’t be Flo’s without a selection of classic, seafood and vegetarian galettes (savoury  crêpes) and divine dessert crêpes that everyone knows and loves. Très bien!

“The philosophy behind our new dinner menu is affordable, approachable French food done well,” says Flo’s Crêperie co-founder Michelle Guillemard.

“Alongside delicious crêpes and galettes, you’ll now also find dishes that capture the true essence of French cuisine. We want Flo’s to be the destination for French food on the Sunshine Coast.”

The menu will be rotated regularly, featuring plenty of new delights, and all dishes are designed to be shared, embracing the spirit of dining with loved ones and the cosy, casual surroundings. Why try just one dish when you could share a few with your table?

“We encourage diners to order a range of dishes and try different things – mix them up with our galettes, or with a glass of wine, Flo’s French Cider or champagne,” Michelle adds.

“Since launching Flo’s for dinner, we’ve had so many amazing comments – people love the new dishes and attractive prices, and pairing these new dishes with a savoury galette or sweet crêpe for dessert has been a popular move!” she says.

But if you’re simply craving a crêpe, never fear: Michelle said diners could still enjoy a range of savoury galettes and sweet crêpes that Flo’s is famous for with the signature flambe crêpes offering the perfect finish to a French feast. Alongside the new menu, you’ll find a revamped wine list, with beautiful French drops from many different regions suited to all budgets and tastes.

“Our personal favourite is the Château du Moulin Noir because Bordeaux is unbeatable and it really reminds Flo of his country,” Michelle says.

The dinner menu is a team effort, with Flo’s talented crew of chefs working together to create French foodie fabulousness.

“We are lucky to work with amazing chefs who not only know how to make crêpes and galettes just like they do in France, but can also execute these classic French dishes to perfection,” she adds.

For a dish that celebrates the flavours of the south of France while showcasing the exceptional local produce of the Sunshine Coast, Michelle recommends the La Papillote.

“It’s Flo’s favourite, because the taste of the bouillabaisse really brings you to the south of France, and with our local fish it works so well to link French tradition and Sunshine Coast flavours together perfectly,” she said.

Craving fantastique French food? It’s time to go with the Flo!
