Plat du Jour Perfection at Flo’s Crêperie

Mid-week dining just got a glow-up with the launch of the Plat du Jour specials at one of our favourite French restaurants! Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer discovers the très délicieux details…

Picture the scene: it’s midweek, and instead of your usual uninspiring pasta-and-Netflix combo, you find yourself at Flo’s Crêperie in Noosa Junction, where the warm, welcoming atmosphere and mouth-watering aromas transport you straight back to your last French adventure.

Our friends at Flo’s are transforming mid-week from meh to magnifique with their weekly Plat du Jour (dish of the day) specials every Wednesday and Thursday – the perfect excuse to get out of the house, sit back with a wine (or a traditional French cider), and let someone else handle the cooking.

What could be better?!

Co-founder Michelle Guillemard explains that the new Plat du Jour dishes are truly something special.

“Each dish is thoughtfully created by our Executive Chef, François Poulard, using seasonal ingredients and classic French techniques,” she said.

“They’re the kind of dishes you’d find in a neighbourhood bistro in France – simple, satisfying and full of flavour.”

Wednesdays serve up the melt-in-the-mouth Slow-Cooked Lamb Shank with ratatouille, herbs de Provence, rocket and jus. It’s tender, aromatic and flavoursome – the kind of French comfort food you’ll be dreaming about for days.

Thursdays are all about Tartiflette – a traditional Alpine dish made with Alpine cheese, crispy potatoes, smoky bacon, caramelised onions and creamy garlic sauce. Rich and delicious but not too heavy, it’s just asking to be paired with a glass of French red or white for those luxe apres ski vibes. There’s even a vegetarian option, so everyone can get in on the action. Mais oui!

“The idea is to give regular guests something new to savour regularly in addition to our monthly crêpe specials, and the response has been amazing, Michelle said. “Our seasonal Plat du Jour dishes have quickly gained a loyal following, with many diners planning their visits around them.”

Known for their mouth-watering crêpes and savoury buckwheat galettes (gluten free), Flo’s Crêperie launched their expanded French bistro menu a year ago, with locals loving every bite. Expect to feast on dishes you’d find in a cosy Parisian eatery, such as perfectly seasoned Steak Tartare; rich and tender Confit Duck; and crisp, golden Steak Frites – with sides including Cauliflower Gratin, and Green Beans with confit lemon, toasted almonds and fresh herbs.

As you might guess from their coastal Noosa Junction and Mooloolaba locations, Flo’s also showcases flavours of the French seaside through local ingredients, offering popular dishes like the iconic Moules Frites and their indulgent Scallop Vol-au-Vent with mushrooms, spinach and cider beurre blanc – a real crowd-pleaser.

“Our French bistro dishes reflect our passion for variety, seasonality, and the timeless charm of regional French cuisine,” Michelle said. “We’ve welcomed many new guests eager to explore beyond our signature crêpes, and the expanded menu has helped position Flo’s Crêperie as a destination for authentic, satisfying French dining.”

If you’re keen to recreate a little Flo’s magic at home, the Flo’s Crêpes cookbook – packed with recipes, tips and French flair, and available to buy in store or online – makes the perfect kitchen companion.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, Flo’s is serving up a little slice of France right here in Noosa. Whether it’s a relaxed mid-week meal, a family breakfast or a memorable celebration, this is your sign to get a little Francey this season!
