Waves of Relief at Entle
Can lying on a bed bring deep rest and restoration, and potentially address chronic illness? Deb Caruso discovers the revolutionary act of dry floating, and takes ten years off her biological age.
I used to float. Not literally, but in the salty, sensory-deprivation kind of way. Back when life felt a little less busy, I would carve out an hour or two, slip into the stillness of a float tank, and let the world fall away. It was my reset.
Like many women in their early 50s, the idea of switching off feels… optimistic. Between deadlines, disrupted sleep, and the joy of perimenopause, stress has a way of settling in and making itself at home. And yes hubby, I just need to stop and rest. Red rag to a time-poor bull. So when I heard about Entle’s dry floating therapy opening in Maroochy Private Hospital, I was curious. I’ve tried enough wellness modalities over the years to know the difference between something that sounds impressive and something that actually shifts the dial.
This, it turns out, does.
The Entle premise looks deceptively simple. You lie down fully clothed, supported on what resembles a waterbed, and that’s about it. No water immersion, no effort, no sensory deprivation pod. Just the support of a specially-designed water bed carrying carefully designed sound patterns – vibrations that travel through the body in a way you don’t hear, but unmistakably feel. Interesting.
Within minutes, I notice a gentle wave-like sensation moving through my body. Not intrusive, not intense -just a subtle, rhythmic presence that overtook the usual mental chatter. It wasn’t like floating, exactly. It was deeper. More integrated, a higher frequency. What struck me most after 20 minutes was how quickly my system responded not just in how I felt – but in the data.
Entle Founder and CEO, Austrian-born Thomas Staudacher has spent decades working at the intersection of natural medicine and vibrational science. Trained as an acupuncturist, homeopath, naturopath, nutritionist and herbalist, he developed Entle after a personal health crisis – a leukaemia diagnosis fifteen years ago that pushed him deeper into ancient healing traditions and emerging quantum biology. The Entle Bed, his patented creation, is the result of that long inquiry and journey.
The premise behind Entle is surprisingly simple: using sound vibration and water as a conductor to support the body back into balance. You don’t have to understand the mechanics to feel the effects, but the idea that the cells in our bodies can respond to gentle vibrational input makes intuitive sense.
What makes Entle different is that it doesn’t push, force or overstimulate. There’s no pressure to ‘fix’ anything. Instead, it creates the conditions for your nervous system to settle, recalibrate and, in many cases, finally exhale. When you’ve been running on empty for a while, that’s pretty big. Because sound travels roughly five times faster through water than through air, Thomas’ precision-encoded acoustic patterns move efficiently into a body that is itself sixty to seventy per cent water – travelling through your cells, your fascia, your bones. The body becomes, as Thomas puts it, ‘a tuning fork’.
He calls it Acoustic Restoration Therapy. Where traditional floating works through sensory deprivation, Entle works through what he describes as cell awakening, not forcing the body toward a particular state, but creating the resonant conditions in which it can find its own way back to balance. The name itself reflects Aristotle’s concept of entelechy: the idea that the body already holds the blueprint for its own restoration. Entle doesn’t do the work, it reminds your system how.
To fully understand where any issues may be and to measure the results, there is the option to undertake a wellness assessment to measure and map how your autonomic nervous system is functioning, through tools such as your energy field and Heart Rate Variability (HRV). Similar to the smart watch – but much smarter. Our heart is connected to our nervous, immune, digestive and hormonal system, HRV reacts to even small changes to indicate how the body’s autonomic nervous system is functioning and adapting to various demands and stresses. It also helps inform the soundtrack that Thomas can deploy.
I had a before-and-after reading taken and the shift was hard to ignore. In just 20 minutes, my body moved out of a heightened stress state into a far more relaxed mode. My results showed an increase in Total Power, Energy Reserves, and my brain frequencies shifted from ‘in the red’ nervous overstrain and accumulated tiredness into a more ‘blue’ stable condition. Plus, I knocked ten years of my Biological Age!
I felt more energetic, yet calmer; my mind was clearer and I could almost feel my cells buzzing. The weight of too many nights at the computer and too many words in my head, was lifting. I felt a similar ‘high’ to what I’d experience after a traditional float, with less time and effort. It wasn’t dramatic but it was real.
While many people come for stress, anxiety or that familiar sense of overwhelm, what’s compelling is who else is finding their way onto the bed. People living with chronic pain, autoimmune conditions and ongoing inflammation. Those navigating the physical and emotional toll of chemotherapy or radiation. Individuals who simply don’t have the capacity for invasive or demanding treatments, but still need support.
Entle meets them where they are – and doesn’t ask anything of you. There’s no discomfort. You don’t have to ‘perform’. You just lie there and let the body do what it’s designed to do when given the chance. In a world that constantly demands more effort, more output, more resilience, that feels revolutionary.
The noise had softened. The edges had eased and I had the most restful sleep I have had in ages. This feels like the beginning of something.
A circuit breaker. A way to access a deeper level of rest that I didn’t think possible. It’s less about escaping stress and more about building a better relationship with it. Lying on that bed, feeling those subtle waves move through my body, I realised that sometimes, the most powerful shift doesn’t come from doing more. It comes from allowing the body to remember how to do less.
